A Message from the Lieutenant Governor Education and Training (LGET)
Dear
Fellow Toastmasters and guests,
I am very proud to serve you in the position of Lieutenant
Governor of Education and Training. I promise to do my best
to enable you to benefit from the various aspects of the
Toastmasters program. During your time as a Toastmaster,
it's important for you to obtain all the support you need
to reach your goals.
Speaking of goals, have you set some for yourself this year?
What is your long term goal? Do you want to overcome shyness,
become a professional speaker or be able to speak confidently
in front of an audience? Do you want to manage teams efficiently
or lead training sessions that will spark participants' interest?
Maybe you want to deliver your message in an entertaining
way or improve your interpersonal skills. It might seem daunting,
but remember, everything starts with that first step and
you can progress at your own pace. Your club will give you
the encouragement you need to help you reach your goal.
If you're a guest and you're hesitant about joining a club,
I guarantee that the benefits and skills you develop will
exceed your expectations. When I joined Toastmasters, I had
no idea where the program would lead me. I would never have
believed it would be possible for a shy person like me, not
only to overcome my shyness, but to learn to speak with confidence
in front of strangers.
When opportunities come your way, you must know how to take
advantage of them. Don't miss the boat and live to regret
it; I hope you will have the courage to try.
At Toastmasters, members are the heart of our organization,
so we must treat them with respect and courtesy. During my
Toastmasters experience, I noticed that the most successful
clubs are those that hold quality meetings that endeavour
to present educational and enjoyable sessions while following
the Toastmasters program and keeping in mind the needs of
their members. I'm sure you'll agree that learning in a friendly
and positive environment is the best way to develop self
confidence and encourage personal growth.
If you are a club officer, how will you fill your role with
aplomb? When club officers are motivated and determined the
whole club benefits. This is why the district offers training
sessions for club officers--to enable them to fulfill their
responsibilities with energy and enthusiasm. Be sure to attend
these sessions. If you have already attended a workshop related
to your role, why not offer to lead the next one? That way,
you can share your experience with participants and gain
experience leading a workshop for a larger audience that
your club. If you're interested in this challenge, please
contact me!
As members, you can benefit from various training sessions
all during the year--be it communication, leadership or
personal growth. Our conferences will meet your expectations;
they will surprise, instruct and entertain you. The conference
teams work with energy and passion so you will experience
magical moments. All that's missing is you!
Throughout the year, you will be kept informed of educational
sessions, incentives to progress and the Extravaganza. It
will be a year filled with colour and perspective.
Our District Governor Leona Hamel's theme is "Take Your
Passion. Make It Happen!" That is what I wish for you
all year: to live your passion intensely while taking advantage
of the Toastmasters' educational program.
I wish you an extraordinary year.
Passionately yours,
Lise Blondin, DTM
